We wanted to make sure we hit all the original 66 states so we got off the expressway to head up through Kansas. There were quite a few more turns on this section than any we had seen. We were able to head through Commerce, OK which is the birthplace of Mickey Mantle but did not stop.
We took the route through Kansas on our way to Carthage which had a few things to see. Unfortunately, we got a bit turned around and lost some time. It was also dark which made things more difficult. One of the things we wanted to see was the Route 66 Drive-In. It was refurbished not to long ago. Unfortunately, it was closed for the season and didn't have the lights on. We actually passed it on the way in to town. We went back thought and it looked great. I would absolutely love to see it when it's open. From there we went to the Jasper County Courhouse. It looked great all lit up at night. An absolutely cool building. It probably would have a great tour.
