Flag of China  , Shanghai,
Friday, December 18, 2009

Woke up early this morning and headed out into the coldest day I have had so far. I seem to keep saying that, but today was painfully bad. In Shanghai you can cross the main roads via overpasses or underground tunnel which is quite convenient. Like everywhere in China, in a bid to not waste an inch of space, there are shops inside the underground tunnels and people sellings USBs on the overpasses. I made a video of myself walking along there and struggling to walk in the weather as you can see.

I first made it to People's Square, which is fairly overrated and then went into the Shanghai Museum which exhibits historical articifacts of the Shanghai area and the rest of China. The line wasn't too long and it was free to see which is always good. After spending a few hours there, I walked to Nanjing Road which is the main tourist street filled full of shopping centres. Getting plenty of hellos here from random people like in Hangzhou, but only this time it isnt because the people are friendly, but because they want to sell me something. The locals all seem to wear normal clothes, whilst all the foreigners are wearing the latest Igloo fashion, they must just be used to this ridiculously cold weather. I have come back in the afternoon to get warm again, watch some cricket and then go out again a bit later.
