Well I've finally got a chance to write a blog which happens to coincide with Dad and I watching the Essendon game. I am writing this while the game is buffering which is quite annoying.

Well TAM has been a very interesting experience. We have seen a variety of speakers, panels and magic shows that have all been related to the topics of Science and Skepticism. Dad and Maurice are still staying at the Bellagio which is still 45 minutes away from South Point Casino, which means they need to wake up really early. I have woken up each morning at 7.20am to reserve good seats for the conference. Today we have a table a little further back, but its better because you can then eat breakfast or have snacks without having to fumble with them on your lap.  James Randi is a little frail at the moment after recovering from an operation, which is sad to see, but its still quite uplifting that he can still make it to TAM and watch most of the speakers. Speakers we have seen include; Michael Shermer (Editor of the Skeptic Magazine), Phil Plait (Author of 'Bad Astronomy’), The full cast of ‘The Skeptics Guide to the Universe’, Penn and Teller, Adam Savage (‘Mythbusters’) and of course the key note speaker Bill Prady (co-creator of the TV sitcom ‘The Big Bang Theory). All have been very interesting, but the days are long and its hard to keep being fully attentive for every minute of the day. I know Dad and Maurice have had particular trouble with this (wakey wakey).

Other than being at TAM I have not been outside at all and actually have been wearing a jumper throughout, despite it being 39 degrees outside. It’s very easy to forget you are in Vegas when you spent most of the day in a big conference centre. Tomorrow there is a bit more of the conference including a live Million Dollar Challenge. After that I am going to see more of the strip including the nighttime shows including the Bellagio Fountains, Treasure Island show and of course Penn and Teller’s magic show.

We have spoken to some of our fellow TAMmers and they have all had interesting stories including a former evangelical and long time guitar player who has travelled the world. We have also intruded and probably appear (verbally) on Skeptic Zone.

Until next time, whenever that may be,

Gage
