Let me begin by saying my morning was far from smooth. It's hard to really think about that as I am shaking right now. Shaking because I couldn't wait any longer so I had to look at the score. Suffice to say, I am now getting strange looks for having such a big smile on my face. Can I even compose myself to write this? I am not so sure.

So my bus was due to leave Birmingham at 8am so I woke up at 6.20am which I thought would leave me adequate time to get to the Greyhound station 1 hour before time. So I checked out at 6.30 and asked the person at the front desk to call me a taxi. I clearly said those words but instead he throws this dirty card with a taxi phone number on it at me. Luckily I had a prepaid card and rang up the number he gave me. Taxi man doesn't start work till 9am. Oh dear. Ever more luckily for me I had done my research and written taxi numbers of each town I'd be at on a sheet of paper and the last on the list thankfully got through. Time passed however and no taxi. I re-rang the number and he said he'd be 10 minutes. In 25 minutes time he arrived at the Hotel and it gave me 15 minutes to get there. So what does he do? He goes and gets petrol. Fair Dinkum. I told him I was in a huge hurry, but he assured me he was from London and it was all fine. I asked him whether he'd met my friend Nonny Sequitur. So I arrived at the Greyhound Bus Station at 8am, the time the bus was departing. As you can probably imagine, I was stressing. Given that each city visit is highly contingent on getting the transport at the appropriate time, it was essential I caught this bus. I get into the station and there is no-one serving. I ring the bell, I knock on the door and a lady comes out and tries to calm me down by telling me that I should be here 1 hour before departure. Thankyou very much Ma'am. The third thankfully of this blog comes through the fact that the bus had not left and no-one had boarded. So I made it in time. The bus was nearly empty so again I had two seats to myself. I have worked out that a taxi is more expensive (nearly double the price) than taking an interstate bus, go figure that.

Memphis is very nice and hot. Lots more shops and restaurants (I use that term lightly) here than in Birmingham. Unfortunately there is limited internet access and I am in the library now. So no pictures to show you until Jackson, Mississippi. I am really looking forward to seeing the replay. I hate myself for not being there. ARGHH...!!

Tomorrow I am off to Graceland etc home of Elvis. But bugger that. Go Bombers!
