So here's an interesting idea. How about design an airline that allows you to book as many people on to one flight and then randomly select on the day who gets to board that flight. This idea was created by Delta Airlines and not surprisingly I had the pleasure of arriving at the Gate only to find out that there was a waiting list for that flight. So given I had never heard of this before and was struggling to comprehend how the strongest nation in the world would come up with such an absurd idea, I got into a line with the other passengers that missed out and we each received a new flight (mine being 4 hours later)  and a cheque for  $316 USD. So yes, in the end I made a profit on the flight, even more absurd. The new flight they gave me was also a lucky dip, but thankfully my named was called out to board. The flight was fine, but I am really struggling with jet lag. Last night I slept 4 hours but felt when I woke up that I had slept 12, only to feel a few hours later that I had indeed slept only 4 hours.

I have just checked into the Ellis Hotel the nicest of the hotels I have been staying at. I took a train from the airport that was pretty efficient and the Ellis is next door to Peachtree station. The fact that I am staying here for 3 nights will help me get used to the time zone and hopefully shrug off jetlag. Oh and It’s boiling, not in temperature itself but ridiculously humid, almost unbearable, very different to LA temperature.

The one thing I am having trouble with is communicating (Yes Yes I know what you are thinking). The person at the LA airport took ages to understand me when I was telling her my Australian address (Gardinner vs GoardNER (USA)) and the lady at McDonalds was clueless when I asked for no Tomarto instead of Tomayto.  Arriving here in the south it’s a whole new kettle of fish, as at least I can understand the Northern accent, I am not too sure about Southern accent though.  Latest fashion news: Baggy Pants are in!

Tomorrow night I am going to see the Braves play the Yankees, but havn’t decided what I’ll do tomorrow during the day. Will keep you all posted.
