We got moved on Friday and easily relocated in a larger and busier park.  It's the holiday weekend, so it is full of folks, with families the main force.  We miss ours.

On Saturday, we took an hour-long hike on the Road Runner Trail to the Visitor Center and to look around a bit.  We found a trail down to water level and there found some unique Easter-Lilly like flowers that were quite beautiful and especially appropriate to the season.  The trail was short but rocky, so we had to be cautious.  It was a good place for our hiking sticks which were resting in the car.  Slow was the word.

Lynn had made my Mom's Shrimp Pasta Salad, so that was our treat for the evening meal. I put together a green salad to round it all out.  Nice food for the heat...

We had another game of Scrabble in the early evening.  Lynn started slowly and expressed some dissatisfaction with her play.  That must have been enough to fill my "hand" with vowels.  My play deteriorated and Lynn's improved.  The outcome is obvious. We had fun with it all.  I've decided that I prefer it to Gin Rummy, which is our other current choice. Words are friends, in my opinion...not always good ones though, as I can attest. :o)

We got an early start today on our hike.  We had to drive a few miles to reach the trailhead of the Pipeline Canyon Trail.  We were the first ones there.  It was warm, but not uncomfortable.  The trail is just under two miles and is an an "in and out" trail.  Near the halfway mark we met some folks from Scottsdale.  They told us that we had missed the wild burros near the trailhead.  Lynn has been interested in seeing some, so we paid better attention on our return trip.  We saw four.  The photos may not show them well, since we had only the phone with.

The Saguaros are in good bloom in this area and are very numerous.  I did get one shot of the skeleton of one, which will give you a good idea of how they are constructed.  Very interesting, if you are into such things...architects and engineers might be.

Back at camp we had our Easter Brunch, which Lynn so ably concocted for us.  It consisted of a Black Forest Ham and Cheddar Cheese Omelet, Fresh Strawberries and some of her Famed Poppy Seed Bread.  Tasty it was... I'd have to say it was delicious.
The large strawberries were as sweet as I've ever tasted.  Safeway produce is good.

It's in the nineties today, so we've housebound until evening when we'll slip outside to enjoy the sounds and sights of the desert.  We hear numerous birds, including the curve-bill thrasher and the desert quail.  We saw several quail on our hike today, but only hear them conversing here in the park. Long-eared rabbits show up most evenings and are quite amusing to us Northlanders.

Our four mile hike left us a bit tired today.  It was hilly country and just right for using the trekking poles, which we used.  One does get a better workout using them, I'm told.  It must be the upper extremity involvement that does the trick.  As septuagenarians, we need it all...

I've posted a few pictures on flickr and will edit today's this evening and post them there. Thanks for checking them out and for the comments.  "It's all good."

Let's see: Long-eared rabbits and white Easter Lillie's. It must be Easter Sunday! Happy Easter, folks.

Sounds like a much healthier easter bunny meal than the chocolate ones all the kiddies eat. We had a bit of warmth here though nothing like what you are enjoying. I think it might have reached 68....but good enough to sit in the back yard. Scrabble and Gin....any cribbage involved? Oh, btw, we ordered our crv today....will look just like Hopes......have a good hike today and you are missed here.
