We stopped for lunch at the Avon Cafe after an uneventful drive over McDonald Pass. Taking that route, we avoided any snow and ice on the roadway. Isn't the internet a great tool for planning a trip?
Anyway, the food at the Cafe is tasty and voluminous. We split another Club Sandwich with hand-cut fries. A great choice, it was. Stop by if you've got a hankerin' for some good eats
When we arrived here, from experience, I could tell there had been about eight inches of snow. It had settled some, but still maintained the beauty of a winter's day.
Our primary goal this trip was to winterize the house, plus Lynn wanted to make the delicious Pear Amber Marmalade. Those of you who follow Facebook, know all about this project, so suffice it to say that two double batches netted a skosh over three and a half gallons of the semi-liquid gold.
We had a few water-system challenges which didn't really hamper our enjoyment. The Coots arrived on schedule from the far north, somewhere.
Oh, and did I mention the Moose? Last eve, a cow with a pair of yearling calves showed up just a bit before sunset. Shortly before dinnertime this eve, they reappeared with an escort, a very large bull. He ate a few bites at the relative's place and then wandered over in front of our place. He more or less attacked the willows with his antlers for a bit and then laid down within marble-shooting distance of our deck...that is if you're an olympic marble shooter
We'll be leaving tomorrow afternoon and heading back home. It's been a most interesting, eclectic time here.
