At the Lake House

We spent the last week or so in Helena.  The garden and yard kept us busy, both weeding and picking more raspberries.  Fortunately, we found a few folks willing to take the berries off of our hands.  Got no volunteers from you all to pick, so we had to call on some friends to cover for us while we are gone.

We got to the lake yesterday, Tuesday and settled in nicely.  It's quiet, what with being mid-week.  This morning, the Digger Guy and his assistant, Installer/Fixer Guy showed up with a nifty mini-excavator.  In no time they had uncovered and found the leak in the waterline to our house.  The left at about noontime to hustle parts for the repair.

Lynnie kept busy and amused in working on a jigsaw puzzle that we had started last time.  I'm kind of an Edge Specialist and don't really get into filling in the innards of the puzzles.  I do do a few special projects, if there's a cabin or some such to be figured out.

The Water Repair Team returned at about one thirty and set to the repair.  We had them replace the thirty-something hydrant while they were at it.  It was pretty rusty down under the ground.  The removed an old shut-off valve and re-plumbed the line to the neighbors aka relatives too.  In about an hour, it was time to re-fill the hole.  They filled and compacted it at intervals and soon were finished.  I kept track of their progress via ESP(N) while I took a short nap.  I get these headaches, ya see...

Anyway, the job is done.  The gravel is re-spread on the driveway and all is good.  We'll get some more gravel next summer after the dead trees are removed and then we'll be all set.  So far, in the last year, we've replaced the septic tank, the submerged pump and now the hydrant.  Should last until the next time.

Tomorrow we'll do a hike, again on the Lodgepole Trail, only a few miles drive from here.  It's our favorite and gives us a good workout with a climb of about seven hundred feet to just under a top of seven thousand feet in altitude.  We usually see a few deer, a bird or two and lots of wildflowers.  Perhaps I'll find something photo-worthy to share.  Thanks for stopping by.  My last post garnered not a single comment, so...

Seems a shame to waste a big hole like that. Did you have a treasure of some kind (or a nasty neighbor) you could put in there?

Don't you just love maintenance work. BTW do you shut the water off when not there so you don't have a leak going on for weeks or months?
