I spent a pleasant and quiet night here at Boulder County Fairgrounds, with a touch of rain during the night to keep me awake a times. No sun in the morning though. I called my grand-niece and we set up a time for our first meeting at the Pho Cafe, in Lafayette.
I found the cafe with ease, it being only about twenty minutes from the Campground. In just a few minutes, Naomi appeared. She looks much more real in person. We had a grand visit and a good lunch. I had the opportunity to learn about her life, so far. We have enough in common to make it interesting. We set up a plan to take a hike on Sunday. She is a lovely young woman and it’s a pleasure to finally meet and get to know her a bit.
I brought my laundry with me and coincidentally, there was a laundromat right next door. The woman who worked there, Phun, welcomed me and we had a nice chat while I got settled and got to washing. She’s from Korea, so I got to share the scant bit of Korean that my brother Dick had taught me when I was a child in the fifties. She got a kick out of it and welcomed me in her native language. I’ve met more interesting folks while doing washing!
I got back to camp and the rain came in earnest. It didn’t last long, but did wet the dry ground a good bit. Lynnie called to check-in and we had a good visit. Since I had had a good lunch, I decided that a grapefruit would suffice as dinner. That plus an ice cream bar later did the trick and “took the wrinkle out”, as my dad used to say.
I slept better last night, since the rain had stopped, and awoke to the rising sun in a clear blue sky. It got a bit colder due to the clear skies, but the sight of the rising sun always warms my spirit. I’m sure that the several tenters here felt warm in a much more significant way.
I’ll write more this evening after my day outside in the “wilds” of Longmont.
The hike never came to pass. Too much going on in life, I reckon. I hung out around camp and caught some sun and a nap. It was a much nicer day, with temperatures in the eighties. It’s cloudy now, with cirrocumulus covering the sky. Looks a bit like rain.
I’ll head out in the morning after Lynnie makes her morning call. More tomorrow...

My brother lives in Longmont. I haven't visited him in a couple years. Could be about time.
Send that rain north to us will ya?
Grand Niece-is that your niece's daughter? If so, I guess I have a few of those. I like the way you travel-catching up with old friends and family. You seem to hit a lot of good weather...while we suffer here...though not really that bad since it isn't that cold like winter.
