Since the weather has been so warm, I got an early start on the bike yesterday. I wanted to try a new trail, or at least part of a new one. I rode on the Cave Creek Highway up to the Nature Center and found another way to access the Overton. I rode only a short distance and decided that it was either to rough or I was too tired. I took the paved road back and chilled out for a while. I needed some supplies, so I drove Sooby into town and shopped at the Safeway. A nice store, but it took me a while to find my way around. It's good for me to be challenged a bit. I finally asked for help, thereby violating one of the most sacred codes of being a man. It worked however, and there the section was.
I drove back to camp and cooled my heels until dinnertime. I made some sausage patties for dinner, to be used a burgers. They were a bit rare, but I figured I'd know if it made me sick by the time I went to bed. No problem though. It's nice to have a cast iron stomach!
The sunset was outstanding, so i took the bike around in the park to shoot it from a new perspective. I haven't heard any complaints about too many of them, but will post only a few of the many shots I took. Works for me...
It stayed warm last night but I slept well, arising at about five. With the moon in a disadvantageous position, the sunrise wasn't spectacular. I say this without having left the coach to check. Intuition, I guess.
Since I was up and about so early, I got out hiking by six-forty-five. I wanted to do the Overton and part of the Go John trail before it got too hot. It was a good hike. I saw few hikers and only two cyclists. It looks as though it might be a do-able route on the bike. It was a six mile hike, so the ride should be just right, that is, if I have the energy tomorrow. While I was hiking, I got my weekly call from our daughter Lisa. It's always a treat to catch up on what's going on in her life and share a bit about what I've been up to. Conveniently, there was a stone bench alongside of the Go John, so I did double duty and rested too.
I spent some time upon my return sitting in the sun and enjoying what I came here for: heat.
I'll stop here and add some pictures and then see what else transpires over the rest of the day. In any case, thanks for stopping by. We had a good visit, but you didn't say much. Did I dominate the conversation? You should have said something, but then...

Nice sunset pix, Ralph. I've been on the GoJohn trail a few years back with my sisters. It seems there were some copper mines along the way. See you Saturday.
Ah, the life of Riley! As per usual, nice sunrise/set pictures. Our warm spell is ending so back to cooler temps here....can we borrow a few degrees from you? At least we got a bit of rain. I am still envious of all your hikes and biking. I may start looking a vw vans again....
