I got out for a walk today before Lynn had even risen.  I got one shot of the smokey Pintlars.  There are apparently a lot of fires in the area. You can't actually smell it, but it is visible.  With all of the trees that have been removed up here, the hazard of wildfires has decreased, but at what price?

This afternoon, I stationed myself right near the shore.  I had the camera and the ducks and grebes were quite unaware.  These two species are enemies, so the ducks, especially those with young ones, are on alert.  I had gotten a good shot of the grebe family earlier and was hoping for some good duck shots.  I wasn't disappointed, since the male grebe made a "charge" at the mom and ducklings.  I had anticipated the scenario and was focused on the group.  I got a short video of the action, with sound and all.  I hope that you enjoy it.  The other shots are of ducks feeding about ten feet or less from where I was sitting.  I'm not sure of the species, but they are quite attractive.  You be the judge.

I spoke today with my nephew Bob.  He's home now recovering from his motorcycle accident.  Some of you are aware of the situation, but if not, let me know and I'll fill you in.  His attitude is excellent.  He told me that his future is still so bright, that he has to wear shades!  I think that he'll do fine with the prosthesis and all.  He's currently using a walker and has to hop to get around.  It's good that he's been doing yoga and is in excellent shape.

We had some thunder in the northwest today, but no rain.  The grass we had planted over the septic tank is growing pretty well, considering the poor soil.  We will see what gives come spring.

Thanks, as always, for checking in...
