Lynn and I went into Anaconda, she to shop for canning supplies, and I to attend an AA meeting. Both worked our very well. Lynn found most of what she needed at the three thrift stores there and I got a bit refreshed and improved my outlook on life. Both good things. We had lunch again at the park in "central" Anaconda and then drove back on the road to the south of the highway. It's a decent gravel road and takes us away from the "speed trap" highway, as Joe calls it.
When we had returned, we got busy and made three batches of raspberry jam from our garden
Earlier I got some photos of the waterfowl comfortably swimming right off shore in front of the house. The female grebe is carrying her two young on her back, as the custom of this delightful species. They are difficult to see, but they are both there, trust me. The ducks are especially brave, not worrying about my presence so close to them.
When I shot the sunrise today, I was especially happy that I had caught the bird flying from my right. It appeared to be a bald eagle, although in the picture it looks much smaller than a typical eagle. It had the white head and tail though. You be the judge.
It's amazingly quiet up here during the week. A gift, for sure. Little traffic passes and only a rare sound of the chainsaws in the distance distracts us from the quiet. I did get a weather warning this morning concerning the danger of fire. Once again, it's the season.
Thanks for stopping by. I've received only five requests to be included in the Blog, but realize that many of you are either too shy or unable to comment for some reason. Never fear, I'll wait for a week or so before I trim the list.
