We shoved off near noon and found our way to get groceries and gas on the way near Sandpoint. It's only about a hundred miles to our next stop, so we could take our time and enjoy the mountain and lake vistas.
Jim was already at their place on the Pend Oreille River. The water level here, as in so many places, had been extremely high. We could easily see where it had been five or six feet higher in the near past. It's come down enough that they're allowing boats again on the water
We hadn't seen these folks for several months, so it was a great time getting re-acquainted. Both boys have grown so much that we hardly recognized them. Jim and Lisa are their same wonderful selves. We've known Lisa since she was a youngster, so it's a real pleasure to continue such a fine relationship.
We had a great dinner of grilled chicken, rice and fresh sweet corn. As the evening wore on, we all gathered around the fire pit in their yard. They actually live in Spokane, about ninety miles to the south, but spend as much time as possible in this beautiful area. It truly is a blessing to come from one beautiful spot to another so grand.
We'll stay here for two nights and catch up on visiting. Hopefully, we'll get a chance to get out in Jim's boat and see a bit of the area on the water. We're looking forward to that. I got two photos from the dock area with the Droid, which I'll upload just to let you get an idea of how beautiful it is here. The clouds were spectacular and the temperature just right for moving around outside.
The fire was grand and the S'mores were just right. Andrew was kind enough to make two for me and they are just as good as I remember. He also showed me how to play "Wild Birds" on his Nook Reader. Another fine evening with even finer people. Gotta love 'em all!
