Another long day, but this one on the rolling hills and grasslands of South Dakota.  It seemed that every low spot was filled with water from the recent rains.  Our camp host told us that in the last three or four days they have had eight inches of rain at the Resort.  The plains really show the goodness of it all.  The grass is a lush and tender green and inviting.  We stopped at an Overlook and took a few photos of the area. I also did a short video to illustrate the beauty of the huge clouds hovering above us.  We covered over two hundred miles today.  I last filled up with gas in Fargo at $3.65 a gallon.  I didn't fill up again until we got to Rapid City.  The tank took over seventy gallons to fill.  The needle on the gauge was touching the red warning mark.  I figure we had less than five gallons left.  We used Gas Buddy and found fuel for $3.53, but while I was maneuvering into place to fill up, the clerk came out and told us we were too big and that we would have to leave.  I contained myself and told him that if he didn't want to sell nearly eighty gallons of gas, fine.  We found a station just down the block where the clerk was happy to have our business.

We stopped after filling up to have lunch in a large parking lot nearby. After a short respite, we set out for the nearby Safeway store.  We haven't seen a Safeway for a few months, so it was great to be back. They're not cheap, but we got in on the Memorial Day sales and did fine.  Lynnie is busy now preparing dinner.  Tonight we're having Wolf Burgers.  It's hard to find wolf meat, so she's substituting ground beef.

It's been a long day, so we're going to play it by ear as to whether we go to the Monument this evening or next.  The sky remains blue with continuing large, fluffy clouds portending, perhaps some rain showers. We're parked in the pines and the wind is light.  The sun, as always, feels great.
