It's been cool today.  We had planned on taking the pontoon boat out for a tour of the lake, but the weather just didn't cut it.  Too cold for a couple of retirees such as we.

We had a fine breakfast.  Granny and I prepared biscuits and gravy, which included some fine sausage from the local market in Park Rapids. Lynnie had spent the early morning talking with her good buddies Mary and Sandi, so we had a late, and timely, breakfast.

We spent a good deal of time watching the numerous species of birds at Granny's bird feeder.  I got a number of good photos, but missed a few birds.  I wanted to get a shot of a pileated woodpecker, but he was just too swift to capture.  We saw varieties that we had never seen, however.  The sun threatened a couple of times, but hasn't made a showing yet, and it's nearly six in the afternoon.

We spent a couple of hours visiting at Al and Erna's next door.  The culinary treat was apple pie and coffee.  Ya always got to have some coffee if yer in Minnesota.  The pie, topped with vanilla ice cream did the trick.  They are truly fine people and great friends for Granny. They also have a dog, Mitzi, who is half pomeianian and  half forgotten, by me.  She's a cute, albeit wild little thing.  Eventually she went into her kennel, so we could visit in peace.

The pie has delayed our dinner a bit, so we'll eat later and visit some.  Then tomorrow, we'll make the long drive to Watertown, South Dakota, enroute to Mount Rushmore.  Thanks for stopping by!
