We pulled out of Erie, PA early today and headed toward Avon, Ohio to go to a Costco store.  We haven't found one since we were in Savannah, Georgia.  The trip was uneventful, which is good.  Ohio roads remind me of an old Clint Eastwood western, more or less.  I'd call them The Good, The Bad, and the Homely.  They weren't too bad for the most part, but we got shaken a few times in some needed construction sites.  We found ourselves on a couple more toll roads, or turnpikes as they are called here.  Only cost was a couple of dollars total.

I gassed Shorty up at Costco to the tune of forty three gallons, but amazingly, we got over NINE miles to the gallon.  I think I've finally found his best speed for economy.  Using the word loosely, of course.

We then went on to Sandusky, Ohio, which is near Lake Erie.  The camp here doesn't officially open until tomorrow, but they are letting us stay anyway.  There are a total of two motorhomes here.  Nice and quiet so far.

Or friends Joyce and Jerry drove over from Fremont, OH.  They were out in Montana about five years ago and we haven't seen them since, so it was a grand reunion, if you will.  We visited a while and then we drove with them in to Sandusky, for dinner.  Our camp staff member, Jeff, suggested Danny Boy's Restaurant.  We went there and the food was good.  Of course, later, we had to go to Toft's Dairy Store for ice cream.  Another case of gastric overload.  Probably ruined my late night snack.  Oh well, my weight is stabilizing, so I'll survive.

We're planning on going together to Marblehead Island to see the lighthouse there and explore the area.  Jerry is well versed in the are and interested in the history.  Joyce knows how to get there.  He refers to her as his personal GPS.

I only got two photos today, both of the sunrise over a barn near Tofts.  I hope to hit paydirt tomorrow and do better on Lake Erie.  It's great to see friends again and spend some time together.  Jerry and I were roommates both at San Angelo, TX and in Berlin, Germany, while we were in the Air Force.  It's really a kick to get to see the old military friends.  It's even nicer to be in good health and adventurous enough to do it.  A blessing for sure!
