Greymouth itself was rather boring but we saved over £200 on our stay at Radisson in Tahiti which made staying here worthwilfe. Just 30 minutes north of here is Punakaiki, it is famous for the pancake rocks and blow holes.

We also were quite adventurous and went into a fairly large cave system late at night with just our torch to guide us. We were very apprehensive and were about to turn round after venturing only a few metres in when we were joined by a group of people. We happily followed them around and were amazed to see the many glow worms and just how bright they were. We were slightly embarrased of our fear as we saw kids climbing up the walls of the cave undeterred of what might be lurking in the shadows!

The next day we hired canoes and explored the river, this reminded us of our time in Kuching, Borneo with the rainforests either side of us, being New Zealand it was a lot colder though! Komilla discovered (in her single kayak) she was quite good at navigating her kayak. Raj spent quite a lot of time going round in circles. This was really funny as he always blamed me when we shared a kayak.

On the way out we stopped at Buller Gorger which had a ridiculously long swing bridge, Komilla was very brave and completed the walk across, even though she had her eyes closed and was praying continuously. It helped that her strong unfraid husband held her hand the whole way (I told her afterwards that I was feeling a little scared too!). We also saw the devastating effects of a 6.7 earthquake on the other side of the bridge. We enjoyed driving today especially as it took us slightly off the beaten track.
