We stopped at a big supermarket to buy some groceries. As ever we were shocked by the prices, for example bananas cost $16 for a kg!

We drove to Kurunda, our first stop. We arrived at our camp sight not really knowing what to expect however we were pleasantly surprised. The communal showers and toilets were clean and the camp kitchen even had a microwave! We settled into our large site and made our first meal using the camping stoves. Raj was taking charge, so I sat back and relaxed in the sun.

After lunch we went for a walk into Kurunda to experience some its famous treks. We were not disappointed and enjoyed some magnificent views at the end of our walk. Raj relived his childhood and climbed aboard a tree. Much harder than it looked as I miserable failed to get both feet up. All in all we did a 13 km walk which had some quite challenging steep climbs..

Back at the campsite we quickly realised that we needed a torch to get around in the dark. On the way back from the toilets Raj noticed something fidgeting very close to our campervan. As we crept around, afraid of what we would find, we saw a wallaby looking for scraps of food. We couldn't believe our eyes. We didn't know then but this would be the first of many sights of animals in the wild. We didn't sleep very well that first night, we were overly tired and still excited about being in a campervan.
