We arrived at our hotel after twelve hours of travelling. We were exhausted and ready to hit the bed. The guest house was a little bit of a shock after the hotel in Delhi. However it was very clean but basic. After a few hours Raj started to feel really unwell. We guessed this was due to happen but poor Raj really suffered. The first few days in Bangalore were spent resting and eating fruits.

When Raj felt up to it we went to one of the malls called Mantri Mall nearby, Accessorize (Yay!!) , Body Shop and Marks and Spencer were a few of the shops we recognised. The mall was huge and the top floor was the food court, it was so busy it felt like a huge airport departure lounge. We enjoyed Raj's favourite, veggie burger and chips before doing some window shopping. We have enjoyed travelling around using the tuk tuks (or more commonly known as auto rickshaws). During these journeys beggars usually approach us asking for money which can make stopping at lights very uncomfortable. For some reason they can tell straight away that we're from abroad even before we have spoken. On one such occasion while we were stopped and a 'hijera' (trans sexual) approached the auto. These 'men' are quite common in India and it is considered unlucky not to give them money. He took a real fancy to Raj and wouldn't leave until Raj gave him some money. I won't forget Raj's eyes looking to me in desperation with two simple words 'Help me!'.

We have spent a few days with Raj's cousin's family - Sanjay, Preeti and Adithya. Feels like we're at home again. Lots of love, delicious food and home comforts. We joke that'll we 'll be back in a few days as we leave to Preeti (who has really taken care of us the last few days). We saw a few sights around including the Bull temple (Komilla didn't realise but this really was a temple around a huge bull - the 2nd biggest in India) and Lalbagh botantical gardens. We also have enjoyed some local cuisine (which is usually such a huge problem being vegetarian when we have gone on holiday. Here we're spoilt for choice!) and bowling (during which Raj won as usual!). Raj also finally gets to play cricket in the warmth in India (something he has been looking forward to since we started to plan our round the world trip with Adithya).

Always thought Raj was a little camp! Been to India lots but never experienced being approached by a Hijra in that way. Bravo!
