There are many advantages to recieving medical treatment in India.
For starters India has an employment guarantee for their citizens. In the hospital this equates to lots of nursing staff . Then there is the money he paid for the treatment, $13000AUD, a fortune in Indian terms. Consequently we are ensconsed in the Emerald Suite, one of 7 luxury suites on the well guarded top floor of the hospital, and Dad is being treated like royalty.
There are probably twenty nurses, male and female, attending to his various needs. One to take blood pressure, one to give medicine, one to attend his toilet needs, one to rub his back, one to give a sponge bath, two to change the bed,and so on. Initially his favourites were the two very attractive young physiotherapists who come twice a day. However since the epidural was removed and the pain has started he dreads their torturous visits. I'm afraid they have no patience for his whinging either.
Cricket has been the great equalizer in this eqaution. India is cricket mad and from his hospital bed dad has been enjoying watching the NZ vs India test and the Aus vs Sth Africa as well as would you believe some Australian Sheffield Shield games shown on Indian TV.
The male nurses can barely drag their eyes off the games when they come in the room, and they love to chat about the games. They all play cricket. Cricket is the new Hindu God.

Employment Guarantee?
India has no employment guarantees whatsoever for its citizens. You may find many establishments are overstaffed mainly due to cheaper labor.

Re: Employment Guarantee?
I understand from todays newspaper that there ARE employment guarantees for parents.
