"Slept poorly last night - not sure why - Late start this morning 0945 mainly because it was cold, foggy and rainy. Made good time to Josale where we had a hearty lunch. I had noodle & broth & vegetables. Porter had rice, vegetables, potatoes, plus sampa in tea. No pictures because of poor weather. Will miss first view of Everest just a short way up from Jorsale." ... "I had three bowls of noodles & broth, plus vegetables & tea. Porter had rice, vegetables, 2 teas, sampa -- 20 Rs. ~ $1.60"

"I took pack from here [1/2 from Namche] to Hotel Taiva much to amusement, I was told, of the Sherpas who saw my porter following behind carrying nothing. We arrived about 1445. Hotel "comfortable" for these parts. Dorm style - 10 beds in room 2 Rs/each. Stove in room helps a bit. Alt. here 11,300 ft."

"SuTani + a tuber, white but tastes like a sweet potato.
Kosi, Khola, Nadi = all words for stream, creek, river."

" As originally agreed, my porter returned from Namche to his home in Wahko, the morning of 1010. I decided not to hire another porter."
