The bus was an interesting first cultural experience in Myanmar... although not the last on: 12 hours in a surprisingly new bus with aircon and reclining seats, listening to very LOUD burmenese music and watching 'telenovelas'. Burmenese people love music, and have their own versions (in their language) of many hit songs (including "La Bamba" and R&B songs).
Mandalay is an interesting city, full of history and, of course, many temples and pagodas. We toured for two days and then went to Bagan, probably the main attraction in the country. Bagan is an impressive site strewed with red-brick temples and pagodas.
After the temple overdose we took off to Kalaw to do a trek that would take us to Inle lake
Finally in Kalaw. Some good sleep and a two day trek to Inle lake, staying one night in a Buddhist monastery. Great experience. In Inle lake, we relaxed and enjoyed a boat trip though the floating towns and gardens. Very pretty and enjoyable.
And back to Yangon. Twenty more hours of bus, a waiting a day in Yangon before our flight and waking up with and a huge storm that seemed to want to flood the whole continent. But finally back to Bangkok.
