The last couple of days have been spent game driving around Etosha Nationakl Park, the only game aprk where you can actually drive around in your own vehicle. So we have ben game driving in the massive yellow truck....you would think that we'd scare the animals off! Etosha was cool cos we saw loads of giraffe, one of my favourites, and lots of lions too. So far we had seen a few female lions in the wild but not many males, and no cubs. But we saw a breeding pride with 4 cubs and 2 females, then some other lions who were stalking prey, so it was really great. WE camped in the park, and as a result in the evenings had plenty of little visitors in the shape of cheeky mongooses/mongeese, and jackals! Another highlight was seeing a leopard much closer than previously too.....we pulled up next to one ina tree about 3 metres away from the truck. he didn't stay there for long though, seemed a bitannoyed that we had disturbed his slumber and stalked off!
In the evening of the second day I decided to stay behind at the campsite whilst some people went off on another game drive, and apparantly whilst they were out my bikini which had been hanging up to dry in the truck made a bid for freedom....it got hooked on a tree and as the truck drove off, stayed there!! Alexa has some entertaining pics i must get off her.
ANother entertaining thing was at the second campsite we bumped into a truck called 'Das Rollende Hotel' whichw as a dutch/german company who had a truck like ours, but towed behind it another truck which was full of 'cabins' where they sleep. Basically this truck, which was not much bigger than fanny (our truck's nickname by the way!) has 48 cabins in it.....literally like coffins, one on top of the other, sandwiched in like a morgue. Horrible, especially if you were claustrophobic! we had a good laugh looking in and making fun of it! teehee
