I let the tent dry out a little after we got up. The kids had a go at archery, using one bow and six arrows. The manager supervised them for about 20 minutes, before he got bored. I could sense his growing realisation, that the arrow arcing into the ground six feet away, was likely to be the best shot of the day.

We headed for Pärnu, a pretty seaside town, ten minutes away. Nick scared the wits out of a Polish lorry driver by trying to turn the wrong way up a dual carriageway. The town has a nice pedestrianised centre and pastel coloured shops and restaurants lining the way. Nick wanted to go to the beach and I needed to take Saskia's toe to be looked at. The last couple of times I'd changed the bandage, some pus had oozed out of one of the holes made by the stitches.

I picked up a tourist map, and identified the little red cross symbol for a doctors, and went looking for the clinic with Saskia. Nick wandered off in search of beach towels. The clinic wasn't hard to find. They took pity on a confused English tourist and took a look at Saskia's toe despite being a psychiatrists. They probably gave it some therapy too. The psychiatric nurse cleaned it up and disinfected it, the way I'd been doing, but this time with some bright green antiseptic that made Saskia's toe look like it belonged to a witch. They said the stitches could come out tomorrow and they didn't seem worried about the infection.

The beach in Pärnu is perfect - sea, sun, sand. I was burnt within 10 minutes, despite the kids' factor 50 suncream. There were plenty of things for the kids to climb on and swing on, that cost nothing.

Nick, however, had the worst toilet experience he claims ever to have had.
"It was like the French Pits," he explained, "but smeared." Mmmm, nice. "They worked, though," he added, "I didn't need to go after seeing them."

Bonus.
