Hello Everyone!
Thank you all for looking at our blog and sending us encouraging comments. We have now made it half way through our trip and are having a day off in Prague to celebrate. We have just been on a walking tour and seen some amazing buildings and a fancy clock. It feels a bit odd without our bikes today but I guess we will be on them again tomorrow for a while. Our next brake is back in Britain for a few days for Sarah and Jan's wedding.
Since Meissen we have been very sociable as we have seen other cyclists going our way. We cycled along with an older couple for a while from Germany and had a chat with them and then later that day we met 2 girls our age from Canada doing a very similar route at a similar pace so we cycled together the next morning until our routes seperated. We are now in Czech Republic, as you have probably guessed. We got a stamp at the border! The scenery around the border was amazing, lots of stunning cliffs and castles. We both found it interesting to see how quickly things changed at the border - it even became sunny but this was a trick as it didn't last long! We still haven't had 24 hours without some rain and one day we got completely soaked but we were staying with friends of my parents so we had a dry night.
We have had some amazing cobbles since Meissen and lots of train tracks/crevaces to cross or bump over so now Kristin has bruised elbows but is fine. We have achy bits everywhere from cobbles:( The bike tracks in Czech are interesting and designed for cross country exterme cycling. At one point we came to steps and wondered where our route went when we realised the sign was point up them with a slope at the side to heave the bikes up! Some how we made it up and down the other side without loosing any brake cables! We are both amazed at our map skills and finding places without much help and at finding good campsites with fantastic showers!
Please send any non-rain our way:)
Rachel and Kritsin.
