After a short flight Washington to Munich (approx 6hrs), Simon & I being seated separately (thanks to a nice American girl we swapped) and a painfully long 4 hour stop over in Munich where the aiport was ridicuously hot we eventually got to Paris after a short 1.5 flight from Munich - hooray! We are proud to say we made it from one side of Paris to the other on the metro and didn't even have to whip the phrase book out - bonus. We did however get slightly lost with the tiny streets that lead to our hostel but a nice French couple who spoke english helped point us in the right direction this is where a handy GPS ipod/touch would come in very handy! Potential purchase on the horizon I think. The hostel was really nice, huge, modern, nice rooms, sits right on the canal with a big bar & restaurant attached.

As we only had one full day in Paris we made the most of it - the sun was shining, it wasn't humid like the states and with a crusty baguette to start the day what more could we want! First stop was the Effiel tower of course with every other tourist in Paris, and I truely mean that the ques were just insane for buying tickets to head up the escalator, I took photos, people must have been standing for hours just waiting for a ticket and then had to wait in another que to get up! On the other hand the que for walking up was rather short (less than 20 people) excellent, walking it is - 4 euro and thousands of stairs later we made it to the 2nd floor to take in the spectacular views of Paris. Down on the ground we looked like silly tourist doing leg stretches, however this did actually pay off the next day - hay its not like we're gonna see these people again.

Next stop the famous Louve museum, home to Monda Lisa and Venus de Milo & many other famous pieces of artwork. we got incredibly lost but eventually found our way around! Next stop was Notre Dam a very famous French cathedral with incredible architecture & amazing stained glass windows. We were even lucky to time it so we got to hear the organ play. Next stops were the Arc de Triomphe via the Champ Élysées a street full of designer shops& restaurants, which of course we walked straight past! We had dinner in the famous park Jardinière des Tuileries siting outside in the sunshine, people watching including the love birds on the park bench, just a subtle reminder we are in the city of love!
