Where I stayed
Up at 6am and so so tired, could sleep all day! For some stupid reason I volunteered to get up and go to bus station to attempt to book a bus to Xining. (Due to the earthquake the bus spaces are very very limited) - (and I volunteered and fellow traveler Markus from Germany is sick and is en-route to the hospital in Xining, so a little bit of pity on my part) Arrived at 6.20am to find that the ticket office does not open until 8.30... gggrrr not impressed, so went for a morning wander around the collapsed city. Upon return to the station I picked up on other people purchsing tickets off a bus driver... went along, worked my charm, smiled sweetly and secured myself and Markus an upper berth sleeper ticket each. 2.30pm departure. (All I hope is that this bus does actually exist!)
Returned to guest house, crawled into bed and for once actually managed to go back to sleep for two WHOLE more hours! Woo Hoo!
Rose about ten, packed bag to deliver down stairs and went out to explore the city tents (shops)... I have no quaims what so ever spending money in this city as the people here definitely require it! Although sadly I couldn't find anything I even remotely wanted to purchase.
Collected our bags around 1pm and wandered towards bus station - looking for some lunch along the way. Located a very cute noodle tent restaurant where I indulged in some very yum, fresh noodles, meat (presumably yak), green pepper and chilli.
Made it to bus station just before 2pm, where we squeezed under cover with all the locals... stare, star e, stare.. he he.
6.30am and we've arrived in Xining and woo hoo I'm still alive... struggling to breath and sleep deprived but alive. Jump in taxi and head straight to highly recommended Lete hostel... so so can't wait for a shower and clean bed and tv and everything that is not normally considered a luxury!
Note: Man I love Harold so so much - he is the best go dam travel pillow ever!
