Wow... are we happy or what to finally be out of CORK!!!!!!!!
Along the way we had two stops to make they were Rock of Cashel and Dunmore Caves. This being said we got up early so that when the parking garage opened up at 8 am we could be on our way out of the city and away from Cork.
We arrived at Rock of Cashel which was the third item on my list of places that I wanted to visit in Ireland. It was nearly not as impressive as lets say Blarney but there is substantial history that surounds the place. The way the it loums over the city of Cashel is very impressive however the site itself was almost to preserved. There were a lot of modern day items that they had to build and keep going in order to give it the apperance it now has today.
Dunmore Caves was very fasinting and full of rich Irish culture dating back to 925 AD. There was a lot that happened surrounding these caves for the Irish that is still carried with them today. Monks of the 17th century wrote about the caves and the Viking Godfrey's raids on Ireland countryside. The stilagmites and stilagtites in the cave date back to as old as 1 million years ago.
We then arrived at our best Hostel ever and now have enjoyed the relaxation that comes with it.
Lead the way Trish.
Rock of Cashel was interesting but we had been a bit spoiled by being alowed to walk all around the other castels we had been in. We went up stairs as well as enjoyed the history. I would say that a back ground of the castle and history of the town would have been helpful in enjoying this site more.
Then off to the Caves where we were a small group of peeps from all around the globe. There were us Americans, some German, Polish, New Zealanders, British and Russians all being led into an Irish cave by a French tour guide! Fantastic, as this particular guide reminded me of Mr. Bean in his manerisms (sp) and in some of his speach. He was a great story teller. We learned a bit about the caves an how people died in them.....while we were down there......feet from where they found the bones.....then he turned out the lights.....
After a small heart attack we were off again to find the hostel we were to stay in. Short day but great due to the fact that we were able to find what we were looking for had fun getting stuck behind some tractors along the way.
Well, I guess I speak to loosly as we did have an issue finding the hostel but the 12 year old running the corner store in the town straight out of deliverance, was so cute and helpful, it made up for it.

Re: Pictures
Pictures are definately to come. The internet access and availablitiy is sketchy. We got the entries done last night on the hostels computer but couldn't get the WIFI to work long enough to get the photos uploaded. They will be up. :)
