We woke up the next day to no wind but to rain. Rain is better than wind...
Oops, the day needs to get started we're off to go explore and then to the race after party tonight so more later. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these races and NZ.
Our last day of races was yesterday. I'd love to say we were awesome and showed everyone else around how we do it in California. The reality is that it was the first time that we had ever been in a boat together. Well, that's not true. The first time we were all in a boat together was on Wednesday afternoon when they first called us down for our 1500m race. It was windy and cold. We waited around in the holding area before Max, one of the Maori dock workers helped load us onto our boat. Max waved good bye to us and we along with the other eight boats all lined up at the start. We were waved back so that one of the V-1 races could go. The officials then waved us back to the starting line, then pushed us back off the line so another V-1 race could happen. This occurred three times before they sent us back to the docks so that the bouyies could be fixed. An hour later all of the races for the day were cancelled. We had waited in the holding pens and on the boats for a total of three hours only to learn we had to be back the next day at 6:15 am for a race at 7am. We left, cold, hungry and glad to be done for the day.
