Kota Kinabalu (Borneo) 6th March 2008 - On the way into dock we could see Mount Kinabalu from our balcony (as the old adage says, if you can see the mountain it is going to rain if you cannot see the mountain it is raining) we never saw the mountain again. We took a trip to the National Park which was a 2 hour coach journey from the ship on the way we saw some beautiful scenery very lush and green due to the heavy rains. Everywhere was very clean and tidy. 1800 metres above sea level we commenced our walk through the park, which ended up as a slog through a rain forest, and did it rain. Luckily we took some wet weather clothing the pathways and the steps were wet and muddy and very slippery. During the trek we also visited their botanical gardens, which was the rain forest with a few plants and tiled pathways a bit easier on the feet. Some 2 hours later we were taken for our Malaysian lunch and to dry off. There was no offer of beer or wine a bit disappointing. Back to the ship through low cloud and lots and lots of rain. 2 more days at sea and then we dock in Hong Kong hope the weather is better.
