Pago Pago (American Samoa) - 9th February 2008. Hot, humid and the occasional shower was the weather of the day when we arrived at Pago Pago. We had no trips planned and decided to wander around the harbour, however on leaving the ship there was a "bus" taking visitors around the island for 10$ each so we hopped on hoping for the best. The bus was a wooden construction with no glass in the windows, hence natural air conditioning. The seats left a lot to be desired but we had some good fun trying not to fall on the floor. The journey took 2 hours going around a small island 18 miles long. The island was very mountainous, lush and green with lots of beautiful plants, breadfruits, bananas and coconuts. All the people were friendly and happy to have tourists visit their island, not many ships visit at the moment. Dennis is still full of cold and a chesty cough, he has been to the docs and is now on antibiotics hopefully he will recover soon, or I am chucking him over the side. Tomorrow we lose a day (Monday 11th Feb immediately becomes Tuesday 12th Feb) as we are going through the international date line and we will be in Fiji that day. NZealand will be the next port of call 15th Feb.
