We just decided tonight that we're not going to Bavaria anymore, way too expensive and there aren't really any hostels open.  But, we also don't have our passports so we can't go out of the EU...so we're thinking of going to Hamburg for a day trip (we'll leave early Sat morning and come back Sunday at like 3 am.  The train tickets are good for 27 hours or something like that so we should be able to make it there and back with 5 people for 25€).  This way we can still kind of hang around campus on the first weekend of actual school, something that we have all kind of been looking forward to since we may actually be able to meet some Germans and get to know some of the German kids who are now officially in our EE classes with us.

Today was the first day of classes for us, we had a communications class (which will be about telecommunications, internet protocols and some RF stuff like radio and TV signal processing/transmission), an Analog Electronics class (which is the second installment of a class that we started at MSOE with the Professor who no one could understand).  It is going to be studying Operational Amplifiers, which do just what they sound like they do: receive a signal on an input line and make it more substantial and distinct without distorting it, Analog to Digital converters (ADC as well as DAC), which is what a digital thermometer uses to take a continuous range of values like temperature and turn it into a discrete value proportional to the temperature on a give scale, and a thing called a phase locked loop, which I was extremely excited to see on the syllabus because I had to troubleshoot PLLs when I was at CalTronics.  I was also able to score some brownie points by knowing what it was and what it is used for (keeping the frequency and phase of a signal synchronized with another signal- it's what helps keep the horizontal and vertical lines on the little TVs that I was working on in the right place so the picture will be clear).  And finally we had another German Language class...well I guess you can't really call it a class, we went there, reviewed a little of what we had talked about on Friday and then proceeded to have a nice brunch with all the fresh breads, meats and vegetables that the professor brought in.

Tomorrow will consist of the com class again and Signal Analysis and Humanities classes...but that will be for another day...obviously.

After that we basically just worked on figuring out our weekend, made a quick trip downtown for Bryan to ask some girl on a date to the Kart-Haus (go-kart place), but he got shot down for HOMEWORK.  I told him not to sweat it because that is what Tiffany used to say to me...
