Dusseldorf was a neat airport to be at. I understand that it was 7 in the morning on a Monday, but it was the quietest airport I've ever been at. I made it through customs virtually without incident (I had a bottle of water that I had to get rid of after an initial screening). The big group made our way to the next gate. We had about an hour or so before our next flight so I found a comfortable seat and read Hesiod for a while. After a while I went back to the rest of the group and we chatted for the duration of the layover. It was a little funny, most of the people in the airport were working through their morning coffee, but the group of 40 Americans felt like it was a little after midnight...needless to say, we looked out of place.
