A ferry was waiting for me this morning. Her name was MS Viking XPRS and she's magnificently enormous! This 185-meter long vessel carries up to 2500 and 240 cars between Helsinki and Tallinn twice every day. The trip itself was a very interesting experience. The ferry is stuffed to the brim with all sorts of entertainment: duty-free shopping, pub with karaoke, dance floor, restaurants and cafés, kids' rooms, smoking rooms, several sun decks, live show, TVs, bars, slot machines... I was fascinated by the size of the thing and how easily it swallowed tens of buses and heavy trucks. When it moves through the waters of Baltic sea, you can barely feel any motion and waves don't tilt it at all.

So, the trip was very pleasant and we passed through the beautiful archipelago around Helsinki. I also caught a glimpse of the sea fortress Suomenlinna, which I'm planning to see tomorrow!

About Tallinn - it's beautiful! The old town is small, but is packed with very interesting buildings. I was walking around gawking at every façade and every alley :) The old town is split into two parts - lower and upper, and they are separated by the gates which used to close for the night in medieval times. I heard from the guides that the upper town was populated by nobility who didn't want to see any poor people on the street at night :) Most of the city wall is still intact and most of the towers are in place. The Gothic city hall is also very interesting! Judging by the fact that I took ~350 pictures there, I really enjoyed Tallinn :)
