Left Branson early this morning, drove about 5 1/2 hours in pretty high winds, (yes, Dorothy, we ARE in Kansas!) which were blowing south to north. Luckily, our rig has something called "Howard Steering", which can be adjusted to apply pressure to the steering wheel so that you're not fighting it all day long in the wind - even with that, Greg had a challenging day! We drove by Kansas City, where "our" Vikings played football yesterday - and lost : ( ... and we drove right by Kansas International Speedway, where the Nextel Cup guys will be racing this coming weekend! Timing is everything, as they say!) Of course we passed through lots of very flat country, reminding of an old poster I had: SKI KANSAS - it was an absolutely flat horizon line, with a sunflower growing out of it!
This is one of those rv parks with a rail line running right next to it - hope it's not too noisy all night long - although we may close our windows anyhow, as a storm is supposed to come through!
Tomorrow, we'll be in Kansas all day again, driving to the western edge.
