The drive from Arizona to Albuquerque produced a lot more pictures than I normally take on the road between destinations, as the skies turned black and threatened rain, then turned bright blue and sunny with beautiful white clouds, and then back to black with layers of gray above. Soon after the rain began, one of the most incredible rainbows I have ever seen appeared, and stayed for a very long time before going to a double, and then fading slightly as we approached the pot of gold.
We arrived at our membership park in Tijeras (on the Eastern edge of Albuquerque) last Thursday, just in time for three days of thunder, rain, hail, and, in the nearby mountains, snow! Not doing a lot of sightseeing or exploring this time, as we did quite a bit of it when we here here last September. Some of you might remember our photos of the Albuquerque Balloon Festival Museum and the Unser Racing Museum from that entry.
Our reason for being in this area is to meet up again with Rose's incentive industry friends, as the IMRA (Incentive Manufacturers and Representatives Alliance) Conference is being held at the Sandia Resort and Casino this year. (Last year we met up with this "gang" in Hilton Head, South Carolina.) Last night was the Past Presidents' event, a wonderful dinner at "Bien Shur" the rooftop restaurant at the Sandia Resort. The food, wine, and especially the company, were all superb! We toasted friends Norma Jean and her husband Gus, who are celebrating their 47th wedding anniversary today. Rose especially enjoys having the opportunity to catch up with good friend (often-mistaken-for sister) Myrna, who is now at the helm of Rose Incentives, the rep firm that Rose had started in Minnesota many moons ago.
Tonite we'll meet up with the group again to attend the conference's opening night dinner event at "El Pinto" Restaurant - it should be fun, with tequila bar tastings, music, gourmet New Mexican food, and (rumor has it!) Salsa dance lessons, too! Hope to catch some good photos this evening (and hope to get them uploaded at some point!)
Need to take this opportunity to wish oldest daugher Keri at HAPPY 36th BIRTHDAY! Yesterday was the day, and she and her sister Jessica have been "doing up the town" in Boston, as Jess flew out there for a long weekend to help Keri celebrate. Rose got a grin out of the photo they sent to her phone on Friday morning - a toad that they saw at the Peabody-Essex Museum!
