Rose's Mom arrived from Ann Arbor, Michigan on Wednesday, January 31st - right after the rain that had poured down all night had stopped. She settled into "her spot" on the couch in our motorhome quickly, and we started planning for her time with us right away.

On Friday, we went to the hospital to see John again, and we were pleased that he had finally been moved out of ICU and into Critical Care - he spoke with us a bit, and was helped into a chair for the first time since his heart attack, but it does appear that more time is required for the full recovery predicted by the cardiologist. Please keep sending the healing thoughts and prayers his way. We also took care of a few errands for Mom, and enjoyed a wonderful dinner at P.F. Chang's. That night, Mom and Rose played their first Scrabble Game of this visit, and Mom beat Rose handily, putting any hopes for a win for Rose out of reach by scoring 86 points with a double-double word score on a "bingo" (a word that uses all 7 tiles for a 50 point bonus). There will obviously need to be many more games over the next week and a half!

Saturday was a beautifully warm, sunny day - took Mom for a walk up to the Swap Meet here at the park, we relaxed in the sun most of the afternoon, and that evening we went to the Talent Show in the Activities Center. There was some great music - a trio with some fine vocal harmony, our next-door neighbors here at the park, Blaine and Marilyn, did a patriotic reading of the American Creed, haunting tunes played by one of park guests on the Indian Flutes, and a fun jazz combo played "When the Saints Go Marching In" and a variety of dance tunes. Of course, Mom couldn't miss the opportunity to join in the "conga line" marching around the room for "When the Saints..."; getting Rose to do a cha-cha, and enjoying a slow dance with Greg. A nice evening, with a gorgeous full moon above the motorhome when we got back home.

Today, SuperBowl Sunday, was even sunnier and warmer than yesterday, and almost the entire day was spent out on our "patio", mostly under the awning because it was so hot! We enjoyed burgers and dogs on the grill for lunch, set up the TV outside for game time, and shared a picnic table full of snacks with our new friends and neighbors Blaine and Marilyn, who brought a delicious dessert over, too.

Since tomorrow is supposed to be another hot, sunny day, we're planning to go on a Hornblower Cruise around San Diego Bay. Sure we'll have some pictures to share after then!
