On the "general information" front, we have decided to stay here at our Thousand Trails Pio Pico Preserve until the 10th of February, at which time we'll move to a campground right on Mission Bay in San Diego.
when we were staying at a park right on the Atlantic Ocean! She's excited, looking forward to her trip, and we're looking forward to having her! While we're on the topic of this campground - it truly is VERY close to the Mexican Border - a couple or miles or so of foothills and rough terrain are about all that's between us.
While we're on the subject of Rose's family - we mentioned a while back that Rose's niece, Megan, is engaged to a wonderful young man, Daniel, who is serving with the Marines in Fallujah. This past week, Megan wrote a story about what it's like for her, and for him during this difficult time. It was published in The Michigan Daily, the newspaper of the University of Michigan, where Megan is in her Junior Year.
She wrote this article so well, and expressed herself so poignantly, that it is difficult to read it without shedding tears. We are very proud of Megan and of Daniel, and wanted to share the article with you: http://media.www.michigandaily.com/media/storage/paper851/news/2007/01/24/TheStatement/Personal.Statement.My.Fiance.Went.To.Falluja-2670709.shtml?sourcedomain=www.michigandaily.com&MIIHost=media.collegepublisher.com
Another bragging moment - Greg's oldest daughter, Keri, recently took a step up to new job with an engineering firm in Boston, which does a great job of introducing their new staff members - online, and in press releases...here's a link to the announcement: http://www.hshassoc.com/article.asp?NewsID=35 It seems like this new company is more people-oriented, and will provide Keri with many more opportunities for advancement - good for her!
The weather is finally starting to warm up, with night-time temps staying in the 40's instead of the 30's we'd been suffering through most of the last month. We've actually had warm enough daytime temps to share dinner outdoors with our "neighbors" and to put the top down on the car while driving around the area. We've also spent some time looking ahead and scheduling our upcoming travels, so an updated/revised itinerary will be posted soon. Short term - we've added a week at Pismo Beach on the Central Coast, meeting up with friends for the long President's Day Weekend to go ATV'ing on the beach and through the sand dunes. Should be fun - and reminiscent (although much warmer!) of President's Day Weekends of the past which were spent riding snowmobiles!
