Not sure we've ever seen this much rain for this long a time - and there's still another couple of days of even heavier downpours predicted! We arrived here in the rain on Sunday, set up quickly, and then waded to the car and drove through the deluge to Cousin Amy & Drew's annual "trim the tree" holiday party. The drive was thrilling - and not in a good way, as we saw multiple spin outs (one of which started right next to us, and thankfully, went the opposite direction), as cars driving too fast, hydroplaned uncontrollably. The party, as always, was wonderful, with lots of folks who refused to be scared off by the the flash flood warnings!
We are now in day 3 of the continuous downpours, and it's actually supposed to get worse over the next couple of days! Certainly doesn't feel very Christmas-y, and thus far, it's kept us from taking my favorite trek over to the Mission Inn to see their incredible light display - but I'm sure we'll get there sometime in the next couple of weeks! We're hoping that the worst of it is over, as we'll be making that long drive again to share Christmas Eve with Amy & Drew, and then back this way for Christmas Day with old friends Kathy & Gary, which has become something of a tradition when we're in this area.
