This afternoon, Sherry & Joe, our friends from Kansas who flew down yesterday, came over for a while, and we decided we'd take a drive into Ft. Lauderdale, check out the big water, and try something new for dinner.
The beach was windy and cold, so we just stopped long enough to take a few pictures, and then we went out for the most FABULOUS dinner, at Chima Brazilian Steakhouse
...a concept we'd never seen or tasted before, but not to be missed if you ever have the chance (they have locations in Philadelphia, Virgnia (near D.C.), Charlotte, and Ft
. Lauderdale. And there is a similar line of restaurants, called Rodizio Grill (which Sherry & Joe had been to before), with locations in Denver & Ft. Collins, CO, and Salt Lake City and one other Utah location. The salad bar is amazing - and huge, and gourmet (and you can order just the salad bar, which includes salmon and swordfish, if you wish), but they are known for their incredible array of amazingly juicy meats (filet mignon, sirloin, ribeye, pork ribs, beef ribs, chicken, sausage) that are brought around the to each table on huge skewers, and pieces (to your perfect "done-ness"!) put on your plate as you wish. If was a fabulous place - beautiful, even in the entry way going in, and very stylish and upscale inside.
A fun day, and now to bed, as we're getting an early start to drive down toward the Keys tomorrow with Sherry & Joe.
Left Wauchula on a frosty morning, and drove about 3 hours south to Markham Park and Range, a City Park in Sunrise, Florida (about 20 minutes or so from Ft. Lauderdale) that is managed by Broward County. The park includes a huge "Bark Park" for where dogs can run free (and it was PACKED this afternoon, even though it was windy and cold); and a shooting range, as well as 86 RV sites. We have a nice site right along the waterway - wish it was warm enough to enjoy it!
