We spent the day exploring the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park - an amazing, 2,000 foot deep canyon (think: height of the Empire State Building!). The angle of the sun made it hard to take photos that actually show the depth in a way to help you appreciate how magnificent it is, but I did take lots of photos, even so! There is a tour boat along the Gunnison through the bottom of the canyon, but getting there requires a hike that inclludes 232 steps down (and then back up!), which just wasn't an option for our knees and backs (nor our lungs, at 8,000+ feet altitude!).
