We've taken advantage of our time here in Rapid City to enjoy the landmarks, National, and State Parks in the area.  Went to the lighting ceremony at Mt. Rushmore one evening - a very moving a beautiful presentation.  Enjoyed driving through Wind Tunnel National Park and Custer State Park yesterday - where I snapped LOTS of pictures of LOTS of bison and pronghorn antelope!  Another neat feature of Custer State Park is the one-lane tunnels (lovingly called "honk holes"), which frame a distant view of Mt. Rushmore perfectly as you drive through them.
Made a quick decision to go to Black Hills Speedway last night - a local dirt track that ran a great show - if there's a dirt track in the area, you can pretty much assume that we'll get there.
A bit of a monkey-wrench in the works late last night, after we returned home from the races, as I suddenly suffered an attack of upper abdoment/chest pain, which wouldn't subside...finally, after an hour, we decided I'd better get looked at, so we went to the ER at Rapid City Regional Hospital and pulled an all-nighter.  After some very quick action on the ER personnel's part, I was hooked up to an EKG, and lots of other things I hated, but they were pretty sure pretty quickly that it wasn't a heart problem.  It was finally determined that I had multiple gallstones, and that I was suffering a gall bladder attack...something I'd never experienced before, and never want to experience again!  It was strongly recommended that I get my gall bladder removed - not an emergency, but probably better sooner than later, so we'll probably look into that while we're in Colorado this next few weeks.   Got there at 1 in the morning, got back home at 7 this morning...needless to say, we slept much of today away, and are still a little the worse for the wear!
