We packed up and left the Chesapeake area yesterday, taking a beautiful 3 or 4 hour drive towards the more hilly, rolling hills on the edge of the Blue Ridge Mountains, carved by the the Shenandoah River.  This beautiful area is rich in Civil War History, and I'm really sorry we'll be here such a short time - we'll definitely come back through Virginia, as we loved the Chesapeake area, too, but didn't get as much sightseeing done as I would have liked.   We're on the edge of the Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive, which we're going to have to explore - we're too close to miss them!
Our stay here will also include at least a day at a nearby Camping World, hopefully to find out what's wrong with our washer/dryer unit, and to get it fixed or replaced.   If you haven't seen our place, or another motorhome of this size, we have a Splendide Brand, european-made small size all-in-one washer/dryer unit.  They are used a lot in Europe, where the housing spaces are smaller, and they've become very popular in RV and Marine use over here.  They use very little water, very little power, and wash small loads beautifully!  Since it quit working a couple of weeks ago, I've been miserable because I've had to do all the laundry in the RV Park's laundry rooms - expensive, and time consuming!
We are really looking forward to this weekend, when we're going to spend a couple of afternoons and evenings visiting with two of my Cousins (who I haven't seen in a very long time!) and their families, both of whom live in this area.
