Where I stayed
Jewel of the Seas Cruise ship
Left the home behind at Pat's Place, and headed off to the Port of Tampa, where we boarded Royal Caribbean's "Jewel of the Seas" - an absolutely beautiful cruise ship.
The most recently addition to RCL's fleet, the Jewel carries 2100 passengers and 854 crew members, other details: Passengers: 2,112; Crew: 842; Decks: 12 (we stayed on 9, a very nice room with a balcony); Tonnage 90,090; Length 962 feet; Maximum Beam 106 feet; Draft: 28 feet; Cruising Speed: 25 knots (we averaged about 16 knots). This somewhat smaller class of ship is known as the "Radiance Class", and we both loved it - plenty of walking for us, and plenty of activities and food venues.
We enjoyed that it was a broad-ranging mix of passengers on board - we met and enjoyed a couple of gals in their 20's (one, a travel agent for AAA, and her cousin); a couple in their early 80's who were celebrating their 3rd wedding anniversary; and many others of all ages. Beautiful sunsets, lots of sunshine at the pools,
and a very enjoyable Dolphin Encounter at Chankanaab National Park in Cozumel (and a bit of snorkeling, too!). Posting a few pictures now - more to follow!
