Where I stayed
Thousand Trails Bay Landing Preserve
Although we had expected to stay south in Texas and be on our way to Arizona this weekend, a sudden realization that this was NASCAR weekend in Ft. Worth, and the possiblity that Direct TV might not be broadcasting the Camping World Truck Series race, caused us to make a quick change. We've moved up to Bay Landing, another of our Thousand Trails Membership Preserves near Bridgeport, Texas (about 45 minutes from Dallas Motor Speedway), and will stay here for the weekend, getting on the road Monday and arriving in Arizona on Wednesday.
This preserve is quite large, acreage-wise, and some of the nicer sites (including the one we're in) back right up to Runaway Bay of Lake Bridgeport. Unfortunately, as we've seen at the last two lake-based Texas resorts we've been to, the drought has hurt the lake badly - with many, many feet of beach where lake used to be. There's a huge softball field and green area in front of us, and a bit of woods and the lake behind us, with nobody parked either side of us, so it's quite luxurious, actually! Unfortunately, the drive here was a bit of a struggle, with high winds buffeting us, and a cold front moved in, dropping temps below freezing at night!
But it's still cozy in our home, so we're perfectly happy!
