Actually, I've been quite busy with learning all about finances, thanks to Vicki, Beth, and Mike. Today I learned about tax shelters. Apparently raising a dog is not the same as raising a child according to the tax bylaws. What is up with that?? But I digress ...
Connie and I are all set for the trip. We calculated that we could wear up to 9 layers of clothing on the top and 4 layers on the bottom if it gets that cold. I personally don't think that will ever happen to me but Connie ... she's a different story. She hasn't had the winter condition training that I've been doing by living at home without heat for the last few months.
We plan to each carry a day pack and jointly use one duffel on the trek. I bought a NortFace waterproof duffel that is bright yellow. It's the greatest bag ever! It will allow us plenty of room for stuff and hopefully won't be too heavy for the porter.
Our flight out to Kathmandu is a bit nightmare-ish. It's San Diego to Los Angeles to Hong Kong to Bangkok to Kathmandu. Luckily, there aren't any long layovers at each stop. We fly out at 7pm on Friday and don't get into Kathmandu until Saturday afternoon. I wonder if that beats Brian's flight back home from India ...
