It's been only 2 days since our last climb, but we are now in Tongging, a small village beside a massive crater lake. The crater lake was created by a volcanic eruption 100,000 years ago. The volcano collapsed in on itself and then flooded forming the lake. About 75,000 years ago there was another eruption which created a large island in the centre of the lake. The surrounding area is beautiful. We saw a waterfall far in the distance so we decided to reach it by following a river which would take us to the base of the falls.

At first there was a path that ran alongside the river but it was so overgrown with bush and grass taller than me, that you could barely see the ground. When the path ended, we were forced to jump from rock to rock across the river. Some bits were easy but some were really dangerous. There were 4 of us and a guide. Many times I couldn't climb the rocks so I had to be pulled up by the others. Some rocks were far apart and needed a massive jump. We eventually made it to the falls, but for the very last part we had to take off our shoes and swim! The river was narrow, and on both sides were walls of rock and mountain. In front of us were the falls and it felt almost like we were in a cave, since we were enclosed by the mountains which cut out any sunlight. The water was ice cold after the heat of the climb. The area was deserted, we were the only ones there. It was like paradise.
