Our bad luck in Jodhpur continued into our final morning as we were rudely awoken at 3.45am by our rickshaw driver!! 45 minutes early and demanding double the fare to wait around!! We had no choice but to agree but we reckon it might have been a scam?!?!? To make matters even worse the train was an hour late and arrived at 615am so we could have enjoyed more of a lie in!!

Glad to put Jodhpur behind us, we arrived in the middle of the Thar desert at Jaisalmer. We were greeted by a melee of eager hotel touts being kept back by heavy handed soldiers with big wooden sticks! One guy came too close for their liking and felt the full force of the stick! Welcome to Jaisalmer!!

After this though, we have loved this place. Our guesthouse (kindly recommended by Niki and Paul) is a quintessential Indian Haveli and we received a free upgrade from the friendly owners - result!! The town itself is relatively small and is centred around a sandstone fort rising from the desert - very Indiana Jones!! Every street is a golden photo opp and at night looks like a fairytale city. The hassle factor is also refreshingly minimal compared to the bigger cities! Weve also met fellow travellers - Emma from Brighton and Pkl (??) from Shanghai who we shared dinner with last night - really nice guy and we may meet him in Nepal for our trek? Yesterday was a great day until we experienced a little taste of 'Delhi belly' in our hotel room - Leah from both ends matt from just one!!! We think watered down orange juice was the filthy culprit!! OK today though!! And dont worry Kathy, Leah's toe is getting better!

We are looking forward to arriving in Pushkar on Thursday as we have heard good things - but the 12 hour overnight bus journey to get there may be rather interesting!!

Muchos love to all!!

How you getting on with your DB's, glad to get out of that place with the violent soldiers, dodgey Hotel managers and ripping off rickshaw riders hay ha ha. Just read Kirstys message and she is right we were looking at the next place of visit it looks wonderful kids, you must have some amazing PHOTOS for us to see.Get one of Leahs TOE please Matt.
Looking at the map you'v nearly done a full circle of your visits so far, you'v diffinatley researched your travels. Are there many internet cafes as you seem to be able to email regularly or are they in the Hotels you stay?
Are the places cheap to eat and sleep? I go on trip advisor to see the comments and the prices it all seems one big bargin.
We will be in Wales for 4 days so IF i can get nans computer to receive the internet you might not get a message til next week. Enjoy your 12 hours bus journey love to you both always mam xxxxxx (glad to hear Leahs toe is gettting better.)
