Oh my goodness, we love Udaipur!! We may even get t-shirts made!!!!!!
We went and had a nosey around the temple in the centre of the old city on Monday night, only to discover a Hindu celebratory service (to the gods) mid flow. We were invited to sit on the floor, with the other people, by the chief holy man!! We sat, clapped our hands and swayed to their singing for 45minutes...it was very surreal hour, but was jolly good fun!! Then one of the ring-leaders showed us around the temple, telling us about it and the gods that they worship in that temple....and he didn't even charge!!! Fabulous evening!
The last few days have been muchos fun...got lost in a very colourful bazaar or two and stumbling accross a street show. Yesterday we went to the ranch in the Udaipur hills- it was beautiful! Very quiet, lots of wildlife (cows, horses, goats, geckos...) and fantastic scenery. We had delicious food (and a lot of it) cooked for us by the family who live on the ranch, so got to taste a bit of proper home cooking. Today we went for a mamoth 15km trek around a lake and into the mountains...was a-m-azing!!! The sights were out of this world (camera went snap snap snap). Our guide, Dinesh (owner of the hotel we're in), took us through rural villages, up rather steep, narrow and overgrown paths which winded around the mountains, and took us through streams. He then showed us some very ancient (and one underground) temples, 1200metres above sea level (Leah was out of breath a bit!).
All in all a fabulous week in Udaipur (we will miss you)!! Off to Jodhpur tomorrow at 0730am, (the home of Jodhpurs funnily enough)...decided to experience the bus, so should be fun!

Least the weather is nice here!
This website doesn't like me, it keeps not letting me in! Let me in I shout, but no, it keeps testing me!! Well Kirsty has told you all the fun I have had this week, it was indeed true, we have scrummy ice cream and Ali was indeed brown. Udaipur sounds amazing, I bet you got some cracking photos, mucho jealous. My view from work although it maybe green (it's a hedge) isn't anything close to the spectacular views that you have been seeing. When you finally manage to put some pictures on, make sure you get a good'un of Matt's beard so we can see how he is getting on. Right I'm off work is boring and I going to moan later to Ali & Kirsty about it, over a large glass of wine. Missing you both lots.
