Crop circles of Manton Dove

Having looked up directions to two of the reported crop circles from Barge Inn, we headed out to get a little closer to some alien action.

We entered the coordinates for the first location and found ourselves taken to the middle of a low-fenced field of wheat. We jumped it and after a few minutes of searching through the crop we came upon our proposed alien abnormality. I'm not sure if I was being mainly fed by your vicarious enthusiasm, but I could certainly feel a strong energy in the air. There was the middle circle with a sort of wave of larger rings moving outward. I asked for a few moments and just sat there soaking up the potential significance of the phenomenon and musing on how many UFO sightings and Crop-Circle reporting there have been and how endless the alien mystery is.

The second set of directions took us further into the country to a 'private property' signed gate. We abandoned the car and after climbing over the gate we finished the final 1.3miles on foot. The driveway was sided by wild hedge growth and was shaded and framed by great, dark green trees. We had to sneak past and through the barn which was thankfully deserted, but after the great thrill of our daring I was a tad disappointed to find that this farm had recently removed the crops which would have made the circle possible. We had definitely found the spot though, because there was a stern warning card left for those who would come to witness this particular sight for themselves. Not very sporting, I dare say.

As we drove back we noticed strange patterns in the fields of Wernham Farm which appeared to have been stamp-pressed into the greenery. We turned around to check it out and then got on out of the car to stand on the border fence, where we found ourselves attacked by vicious and surprisingly painful insects. The place was infested. I could see the flea-like monsters swarming on the grass and weeds. I only saw this after fleeing back to the car post bite-pain. We returned home, alien hunting satisfied for the day.

Crop circles interest me several levels.
Crop circles are a new phenomenon, beginning in the 1970's in Southern England. (The fact that it only started in the 1970's is a bit of a hole in the alien theory.). I think that it started off as a joke, then as it gained media attention and captured the public imagination, spread into a massive mystery as more people jumped on board and made their own crop circles. Two guys came forward (in the 1990s I think) saying that they started the craze. Either way, some of these things are pretty impressive on a technical scale no matter who or what made them, and out of the tens of thousands that have ever existed, ALL IT TAKES IS FOR ONE TO NOT BE MADE BY MAN BUT BY BEINGS NOT FROM THIS PLANET AND I HAVE TO GO NOW BECAUSE I'M FREAKING MYSELF OUT PEOPLE SAY ALL THE TIME THAT THEY WERE ABDUCTED BY ALIENS OR SAW ALIEN SPACECRAFT OR SAW A CROP CIRCLE BEING MADE BY NON-HUMAN FORCES ALL IT TAKES IS FOR ONE PERSON TO BE RIGHT I HAVE TO GO NOW...
P.S. I once wrote a story about crop circles and this farmer's wife who realised that something wasn't quite right on their farm...
